Zachary Keeting and Christopher Joy visit the studio of painter Joel Longenecker.

Longenecker explains: "... what I really want to create is a slab [of nature] ... I remember having a thought ... I wanted to be able to go out into nature with a giant carving knife and carve out a chunk of what I was seeing: air, space, land, everything ... and then just capture that and present that. That's how I think of these as slabs, as chunks of earth or rock or stone, the bark of a tree, topography, all of that."
