Interview with Ken Tighe

Larry Groff interviews painter Ken Tighe about his work.

Tighe says: "I also choose somewhat chaotic subject matter many times as a way to distance myself and the viewer from understandable or familiar points of reference. For example, I often avoid working too obviously, or at all, with the element of horizon. For me it is frontloaded with symbolism that can lead to unwanted assumptions made by myself and the viewer. Compositionally it can be domineering, predictable, and emotionally it invokes nostalgia and can draw the viewer in with sentimentality."
